Believing that all worldly things are in constant transition, capturing a singular moment in an artistic way requires powerful mindfulness. This Zen state occurs only after thoughts, feelings, and sensations are calmly acknowledged— focusing the mind on the present is essential when illustrating the flow of the world.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” - Lao Tzu
In my own work, I find that unexpected pattern created by the natural flow of the medium is striking. Feeling that uncontrolled movement is vital to the essence of our lives, I attempt to incorporate that element in my painting. Following an organic rhythm, and embracing the spontaneous, the shifting colors of my pieces allow me to express in a natural transient way.
